Sophie Mahendran, BVMedSci, BVM BVS, MSc(VEPH), MRCVS, qualified from the University of Nottingham in 2012.
She has since undertaken an internship and residency in farm animal production at the RVC, a master’s degree in veterinary epidemiology and public health, and is studying for an European College of Bovine Health Management diploma.
Sophie’s interests are in dairy cattle, lameness and calf health.
Sophie Mahendran runs through protocols to prevent bovine respiratory disease through a combination of management changes, including reducing level of exposure to stressors and infectious agents.
Sophie Mahendran investigates the use of an electronic tag in identifying and monitoring the onset of pneumonia in on-farm cattle and conducts a study on its effectiveness.
