Fergal McDermott

Fergal McDermottFergal McDermott MVB grew up in County Kildare, Ireland and graduated as a veterinarian from University College Dublin in 2017. He subsequently spent two years at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, working as a rotating intern and then as an emergency clinician. He then moved to Belgium, where he crossed off becoming fluent in French from his bucket list and worked as an emergency intern at the University of Liège.
During the height of the COVID crises, Fergal moved back to Ireland to work for The Irish Blue Cross and to locum in some general practices. He then moved to the Netherlands to work as an emergency clinician at Utrecht University, where he still works.
In his free time, Fergal enjoys reading, cooking, sleeping and spending time with his partner, Veerle. Although his goal is to eventually specialise in emergency medicine, Fergal understands that there is more to life than veterinary medicine and firmly believes it is essential to nurture the non-veterinary sides of ourselves to maintain a sustainable relationship with the profession.
