RVN Jo Hinde received the accolade of Vet Nurse of the Year 2014 for working “passionately and tirelessly” to help people help animals and her campaigning to improve the welfare of pet rabbits.

Jo Hinde receives her award from Rudo Nikisi

Jo, a volunteer for the Rabbit Welfare Association Fund from Basingstoke, was presented with the award on October 10, during the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) Congress in Telford by Rudo Nikisi, head of veterinary clinical services at Blue Cross UK.

Mr Nikisi said: “The number and standard of nominations this year was particularly high and it was a tough decision but Jo thoroughly deserves to be named as Vet Nurse of the Year.

“The Blue Cross gives this annual award in recognition of the hard work and commitment of vet nurses across the UK. Jo is clearly dedicated to animal welfare and really goes that extra mile to improve the lives of pets.”

Commenting on winning the award, Jo said: “When I heard I was this year’s winner I was so excited I nearly fell off my chair. I’m very grateful to be nominated and absolutely delighted to have won.”

Blue Cross relies on public donations and support to provide veterinary and rehoming services for pets in need across the UK.
