Family-run veterinary group White Cross Vets has been named one of the UK’s best employers.
For the second year running, the company has secured a place in the prestigious Best Small Companies to Work For league table.
Last year the firm became the first veterinary practice named by The Sunday Times as a three star “extraordinary” employer in the list’s 13-year history.
White Cross Vets also climbed three places in this year’s table, which puts it in 45th place.
The company employs more than 100 people across 12 practices throughout Yorkshire, the north-east, north-west and the Midlands.
The judging panel surveyed a large proportion of the company’s employees about a wide range of employment-related issues including:
- their overall opinion about the practice;
- contribution to the local community;
- personal development opportunities; and
- workplace well-being.
Tim Harrison, managing director of White Cross Vets, said: “Although White Cross Vets is now one of the UK’s fastest growing veterinary groups, we still work hard to maximise the benefits of being a family run practice.
“This means we always welcome feedback from our team and can quickly introduce new initiatives and immediately adapt to ensure people are always motivated, valued and enjoy coming to work.
“It’s fantastic that this has resulted in us being named as one of the UK’s best places to work for the second year running.”
Some of the recent employment-related initiatives introduced by White Cross Vets include creating a charitable trust to enable employees to support good causes during work time, launching a leadership team training programme, making fresh fruit deliveries to every practice and giving everyone a day off for their birthday.
