Petlog has launched a crowdsourced video in a bid to raise awareness of the number of pets missing.

The video, made of clips of owners being welcomed by their pets, aims to highlight the importance of owners keeping their contact details up to date with their microchipping database.

This is to ensure pets have the best chance of being reunited if lost or stolen.

According to Petlog, more than 70,000 pets reported missing between 2003 and May 2014 are yet to be reunited with owners, including 16,122 dogs 55,038 cats.

The video aims to raise awareness of the number of pets still missing in the UK.

Celia Walsom, Petlog executive, said: “The Welcome Home video highlights the heart wrenching experience dog owner’s face when their dog goes missing.

“A dog is a part of the family and we encourage people to check their contact details are up to date during National Microchipping Month to give them the best chance of being reunited in the event their dog is lost or stolen.”
