Applications are open for Federation of European Companion Animal Veterinary Associations (FECAVA) travel scholarships.

The scholarship programme enables groups of practising small animal vets from different parts of Europe to visit each other for a few days and observe each other’s practice experience.

Ideally, they would be able to participate in a joint continuous education event.

The scholarship, totalling €2,000 (£1,400) per year, will support exchange visits between the two groups selected each year.

The deadline for applications for visits in 2016 is September 30, 2015. Applications by groups of practising companion vets should be sent to the FECAVA head office at and copied to the honorary secretary Wolfgang Dohne at

Applicants should state their interest in the programme, describing the members of their group and identifying two or three regions in Europe (within FECAVA member countries) they would like to visit.

FECAVA will help to find a suitable exchange group of colleagues in these regions in Europe who are interested in hosting their visitors for a few days and prepared to travel to their guests on a return visit.

The two parties should then submit a joint application by email in English to the FECAVA secretary, detailing, in no more than 500 words, the exchange participants (names and personal backgrounds), how the exchange will be arranged and the expected learning objectives.

The applicants might have to submit further details or information on request by the awarding committee.

All applicants have to agree their application details can be used in FECAVA publications or promotional material of the scholarship sponsor, Laboklin. A shortlist of no more than six joint applications will be drawn up and the winner will be selected by a joint committee of the sponsor and FECAVA representatives, and announced at FECAVA’s 2015 Euro Congress, taking place from October 15 to 17 in Barcelona, Spain.
