The annual RCVS renewal fee for registered veterinary nurses (RVNs) must be paid by November 1.

The RCVS has, for the first time, emailed most RVNs to remind them to make the £61 payment on time. Those who do not pay by the end of the year will be removed from the register.

Payments by debit or credit card can be made online via the “My account” area of the RCVS website, or by cheque, bank draft or bank transfer.

RVNs also need to confirm their register details and their compliance with the RCVS continuing professional development requirement of 45 hours over a three-year period and declare any convictions, cautions and/or adverse findings.

Instead of an email. about 3,500 nurses have been sent a letter in the post because the royal college does not hold a valid email address for them.

RCVS customer experience manager and head of registration Nicola South said emails were used this year after nurses said they would prefer to be contacted in that way.

“Sending these notices by email is also more environmentally friendly,” she said. “We would also encourage any veterinary nurses who have received the annual renewal fee form by post to share their personal email address with us so that we can contact them by this method in the future.”
