Mrs Hay’s appointment follows the company’s recent appointment by Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency – now called the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) – to handle this work.

Mrs Hay joins Improve International from APHA, where she worked in all areas of state veterinary medicine, specialising in TB, and in training OVs. Having qualified from the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Glasgow, she worked in primarily mixed practice before joining AHVLA in 2002.

Improve recently launched the new website and registration database containing details of the new process and the new OV qualifications, the Official Controls Qualification (Veterinary) – or OCQ(V).

In her new role, Mrs Hay will manage the setting up of a network of regional assessors for the TB practical assessment which forms the final part of the OCQ(V) TT. She is also course tutor for OCQ(V) ES and TT and will assist generally with curriculum development for all of the OCQ(V)s and revalidation courses.

Improve MD David Babington said: “Sue’s reputation within the OV community and her in-depth understanding and experience of the key role they play make her a major asset to our team.”
