Some of the UK’s finest scientific speakers descended on The Edinburgh Conference Centre for the BSAVA Scottish Congress.

With 175 delegates coming from as far as Canada, Australia and Hungary, along with 48 exhibitors, the truly international event provided something for everyone.

The introduction of exhibitor-led lectures on the Friday by companies such as Orthomed, MSD and Forum Animal Health, was a welcome addition, and the quiz night that followed exercised delegates’ knowledge in entirely different ways.

Keynote lectures included Emergency and Critical Care with Sophie Adamantos, Welfare and Ethics with Hayley Walters, who recently won the RCVS Golden Jubilee Award, and Dentistry with Norman Johnston.

There were eight seminars over the two days and the case report competition, which this year had the highest ever number of entries, was won by Inigo Sanz.

BSAVA president Katie McConnell said: “BSAVA Scottish Congress has all the scientific excellence you’d expect from BSAVA CPD, with the kind of friendliness and charm this region has become famous for.

“When you arrive you get the best welcome, and by the time you leave you are armed with a lot more knowledge, and many new friends too.”

Saturday’s gala dinner in the beautiful Dalmahoy Hotel included scrumptious food and an excellent ceilidh.

Planning is underway for the 2015 event, to be held on September 4-6 at The Edinburgh Conference Centre.
