The UK’s largest lost and found database for microchipped pets is preparing for the launch of its new “Find a Petlog Implanter” service, which vets can sign up to for free.
The new tool aims to help pet owners and breeders find a local veterinary practice or implanter that uses Petlog affiliated suppliers, thereby ensuring they are complying with the microchipping regulations for England.
Petlog, managed by the Kennel Club, will provide the tool for free on both the Kennel Club and the Petlog websites.
Petlog executive Celia Walsom said: “One of the main concerns voiced by many dog owners regarding compulsory microchipping legislation, related to ensuring that the correct quality standard microchip was used and that their data would be held on a database compliant with legislation.
“We have developed a tool to help pet owners and in particular dog owners locate a veterinary practice or implanter that is aligned to the Petlog database by simply using their postcode and finding the nearest location.”
In addition to launching its new service, Petlog will also provide vets with compulsory microchipping guidance notes, answering any questions and supplying National Microchipping Month resources to help drive footfall to veterinary practices.
