Bishopton Veterinary Group and Synergy Farm Health to combine research, advanced breeding expertise and training.
A leading large animal veterinary group and an innovative farm animal health company have announced a new partnership, combining their research, advanced breeding expertise, training and sustainable food consultancy work.
From January 1 (2014), Bishopton Veterinary Group and Synergy Farm Health will be running the partnership through RAFT Solutions, an initiative that has been running from Bishopton since 2010. RAFT, say the organisations, has seen a substantial growth in opportunities for non-traditional vet activity, from research trials to sustainable food consultancy.
Bishopton vets Jonathan Statham and Sophie Throup are to continue their roles as chairman and managing director of RAFT Solutions and will be joined on the executive board by Synergy’s Jon Reader and Alan King. The company will, it said, draw its veterinary expertise from Synergy’s 28 farm vets and Bishopton’s 16. The livestock base of the company will also be expanded, covering “thousands” of dairy and beef cattle in the south-west and north-east, as well as what it calls a “significant proportion” of the UK pig industry.
Mr Statham said: “RAFT Solutions has grown at a pace over the past few years and sits alongside our core clinical practice work as a valuable opportunity for veterinary work into the future. Synergy is a talented, like-minded group of vets who we’re looking forward to working with looking far into the future.”
Mr Reader said: “The directors of Synergy Farm Health are excited about the prospect of working closely with friends and colleagues at Bishopton under the umbrella of RAFT. We know the collaboration of two such strong practices will reap great rewards for both businesses and their respective teams of dedicated staff. We look forward to a long and happy association.”
