Last year Petplan and the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) launched the first Animal Charity Awards to celebrate the dedication of the animal charities.
The nationwide search for the UK’s best animal charity staff and volunteers has begun for the second time, and Petplan is calling for nominations to recognise and reward those who go above and beyond to improve animal wellbeing.
Conceived by Petplan and the ADCH to recognise incredible enthusiasm and commitment to the animal welfare cause, the Animal Charity Awards focus on three key categories; Team of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Employee of the Year.
Making a nomination is straightforward – visit www.petplan.co.uk/charityawards and tell Petplan why your nominee deserves to win.
Rachel Grocott from Greyhound Rescue West of England, crowned Animal Charity Team of the Year in the 2013 Awards, said: “We do what we do for the love of animals, but winning the Animal Charity Team of the Year award has been a huge morale boost for everyone.
“I am the only full time employee at Greyhound Rescue – we rely on 120 volunteers to help with everything from maintaining the kennels, to matching the correct dog to their new owner and providing post-homing support. It’s been fantastic for attracting volunteers, who know they will be joining an award winning team.”
Petplan’s head of sales and partnerships Simon Masding added: “Last year we received more than 3,400 nominations from adopters, charity staff and volunteers.
“We were delighted to receive so many and it was inspiring to read all the examples of remarkable dedication in animal charity work up and down the country.
“We would love to exceed that number this year, so if you have encountered true devotion to the improvement of animal welfare, please don’t hesitate to make a nomination.”
Nominations for the awards opened on the January 6, 2014 and will close on March 31.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Hilton Metropole NEC in Birmingham on May 8, 2014.
