Davies Veterinary Specialists has added a new suite of rooms for staff to relax during breaks.
The old staff room had reached its capacity and when units at the business park where DVS is situated became available, a team of staff was appointed to design new facilities.
Radiography nurse Julie Riches-Tomei, led the initiative and the “project staffroom” team planned the space after identifying the different requirements of staff members during their breaks and planned the unit space accordingly.
She said: “The brief was to create a space where staff had somewhere away from the hurly burly of the clinic to relax and unwind. The priority was for it to be ‘our’ staffroom so the project was intentionally devolved away from the management team.”
Situated in a separate building to the clinic, the resulting suite of rooms give staff a proper chance to escape.
There’s a large general area, a quiet room, a well-equipped kitchen and a south-facing terrace – a staff favourite at this time of year.
Clive Elwood, managing director of DVS added: “We take pride in providing the highest standards of treatment and care for our patients and it’s only right we should do the same for our staff. Everyone seems to love the new facilities, including me.”
