The UK’s largest lost and found database for microchipped pets is to launch its new vet packs at BSAVA Congress this week, providing vets with the materials needed to promote National Microchipping Month in their practices.
Petlog – managed by the The Kennel Club (KC) – will run its 11th National Microchipping Month in June and is encouraging all those attending BSAVA Congress, from April 3-6 at the ICC/NIA Birmingham, to visit stand 418 to collect their free veterinary pack, which includes posters, flyers and window stickers.
National Microchipping Month, says the KC, aims to educate pet owners about the benefits of microchipping and the importance of keeping contact details up to date.
Petlog executive Celia Walsom said: “National Microchipping Month is a great chance for vets to engage with their clients about microchipping, especially as microchipping for dogs becomes compulsory in Wales in 2015 and England in 2016.
“We communicate with vets from around the country at BSAVA and they are always keen to find out our plans for National Microchipping Month.
“Many vets see a significant increase in the number of pets being microchipped during the month. Around 250,000 pet owners also check their contact details during the month of June – highlighting the importance of the awareness month and the benefits to all pets across the UK.”
