Pet owners will be able to insure their dog or cat regardless of the animal’s age thanks to a month long age amnesty by Agria Pet insurance.

Older pets will be eligible for insurance during the age-amnesty

maximum age-limit usually applies to pet policies, preventing owners from insuring older pets. However, Agria Pet Insurance is waiving the restriction throughout April to mark National Pet Month, this year’s theme being Pets and the Elderly.
The company has also stated that the age-waiver will permanently apply to rescued or re-homed pets. Charities working in partnership with Agria will be able to give every animal they re-home up to five weeks of free insurance followed by guaranteed eligibility for continued cover, no matter what their age.
Agria’s national veterinary sales manager Christian Romeril said: “As with humans, the range of conditions pets suffer with as they age grows significantly. Without pet insurance in place, paying for the appropriate treatment can be very difficult for owners and a barrier to potential adopters of older rescue pets. Agria’s April Age Amnesty and new Rescue and Rehoming initiatives aim to give reassurance to owners and would-be owners of older pets that they could have help with vets’ bills as the years pass.”
National Pet Month is a charity dedicated to raising awareness of good pet care and motivating people to give to deserving animal charities. Any animal charity can benefit, from the largest national organisations to the smallest local pet rescue.
