International Aid for the Protection and Welfare of Animals (IAPWA) hopes veterinary professionals will support a special fundraising initiative it is running this month (July 2015).

It is celebrating its first year managing the dog pound in Kota Kinabalu, Borneo, by hosting a dining event to raise funds.

It wants people to hold a breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner party for 10 and charge each guest an entry fee of a suggested £10 – that’s how much it costs to neuter a stray dog or feed two strays in its care.

Once the costs of the food and drink have been removed, party hosts are asked to pass on the proceeds to IAPWA. It hopes guests might then organise another event next month to further boost its funds.

IAPWA won the Charity Team of the Year title in this year’s Ceva Animal Health awards.
