Vets, dairy farmers and industry members can hear from a top line-up of dairy experts at a new half-day technical conference to be held in association with UK Dairy Expo.
Total Dairy Expo has been developed by organisers of Total Dairy Seminar – previously known as the Large Herd Seminar – and has been designed to bring a leading technical event to a prime dairying region in the north-west.
The conference will take place on Friday March 6 at Carlisle Racecourse, which is close to Borderway Mart, where UK Dairy Expo kicks off the following day.
Richard Vecqueray from Evidence Based Veterinary Consultancy (EBVC), which organises the Total Dairy events, said the four key speakers at the expo would cover a broad range of topics.
“Jon Huxley from the University of Nottingham’s veterinary school will be talking about the link between cow body condition and lameness, while Californian farmer Hank Van Exel will be speaking about herd management protocols, before judging the Holstein classes at the UK Dairy Expo,” he said.
Vet James Husband from EBVC will also be giving his thoughts on dairy cow nutrition and independent consultant Mike Wilkinson will talk about how to make top quality silage.
Mike Christian from Elanco, which is lead sponsor of Total Dairy Expo along with Zinpro, said the conference is ideal for all involved in the dairy industry.
“The Total Dairy Expo and evening meal will be a great chance to learn, meet old friends and make new ones, before seeing the show cows and the trade stands at the Saturday UK Dairy Expo organised by Harrison and Hetherington,” he said.
Tickets to Total Dairy Expo and evening meal are separate to the UK Dairy Expo and can be bought by telephoning 01768 868472 or visiting www.totaldairy.com
