The council of the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) has announced it is “looking forward” to welcoming The Princess Royal to the first day of its 2014 congress.

Taking place at The ICC in Birmingham on September 11-13, BEVA Congress is to run five concurrent lecture theatres of science designed for vets throughout all stages of their career, whether an undergraduate, leading specialist or mixed practitioner.

Princess Anne, who has been patron of BEVA since 2003, is to visit congress on Thursday (11th). While there, she will join a “Moral Maze” style debate examining whether money spent on welfare charities is money well spent.

Chief executive of BEVA David Mountford said: “We are privileged and flattered Her Royal Highness has chosen to attend BEVA Congress this year, despite her busy schedule.

“We look forward to welcoming her and hope she will enjoy participating in what is sure to be a lively debate on the role of equine charities.”
