These annual awards, held in association with Veterinary Times, highlight the excellent work that goes on in practices up and down the UK, according to organisers, Petplan.
Nominations have opened for the 2014 Petplan Veterinary Awards, held in association with Veterinary Times.
Now in their 15th year, the awards recognise veterinary professionals across six categories:
- Vet of the Year
- Vet Nurse of the Year
- Vet Practice of the Year
- Vet Support Staff of the Year
- Practice Manager of the Year
- Petplan Insurance Advisor of the Year
Last year’s awards received a record 11,000 nominations from clients and veterinary staff, highlighting the excellent work that goes on in practices up and down the UK.
Simon Masding, Petplan’s head of sales and partnerships, said: “We have a rich history of working with veterinary practices. We work with more than 4,000 veterinary practices across the UK, more than any other provider, and the veterinary awards are our way to recognise and celebrate the fantastic work that goes on in helping keep pets healthy and their owners happy.”
Previous winners often speak about the impact winning a Petplan award had on their careers. Last year’s Vet of the Year was Laura Pugh, who was nominated by clients and colleagues at Ashfield House Veterinary Hospital in Nottinghamshire.
She told Veterinary Times: “I have only been qualified for four years and it was certainly not something I expected at this stage of my career, so when I found out I had been nominated, it gave me a huge boost.
“I thought it was something for vets that were more established so it was amazing to think I had so many people behind me to get me nominated – I must be doing something right.”
