The installation of the state-of-the-art equipment at Wanstead Veterinary Hospital, part of the London-wide Goddard Vet Group, means owners of pets requiring CT scans in East London and the surrounding areas will, for the first time, be able to have the procedure undertaken without having to travel further afield.

Commenting on the arrival of the Siemens Somatom Scope 16 CT scanner, clinical director Tom Flynn said: “We’re delighted to be one of the first veterinary hospitals in London to be able to offer this advanced scanning capability. It has been a significant investment for us, but allows us to greatly increase the speed, accuracy and range of the diseases we can now diagnose and treat.

“The last thing owners of sick pets want to do is travel for an hour or more to get them the veterinary care they need so we hope the availability of our new scanning service will be helpful. We’ve already put it through its paces on a number of dogs, cats and rabbits with some excellent results” he added.

The diagnostic imaging team is led by vet Andrew Holloway who holds a European Diploma in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging.

The Goddard Veterinary Group has been providing veterinary care for animals across Greater London for 60 years through its network of 44 branches and three veterinary hospitals.
