Staff at business and marketing consultants Onswitch began their University Challenge today (Friday October 3) to raise funds for the charity Canine Partners.
The cyclists arrived at the University of Edinburgh Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Easter Bush Campus, today at 10am and went to the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine, Garscube Campus, in Glasgow this afternoon..
Tomorrow they will cross the Irish Sea to be at the University College Dublin Veterinary Sciences Centre at 2pm and then they will return to Britain to be at the University of Liverpool Leahurst Campus at the School of Veterinary Science in Liverpool at 10pm.
On Sunday at 5pm the cyclists will be at the University of Bristol School of Veterinary Sciences, in Langford, Bristol.
The Royal Veterinary College in North Mymms, Hertfordshire is the destination on Monday at 8am and at 1pm the team will be at the University of Cambridge Department of Veterinary Medicine in Madingley Road.
The challenge will end on Monday at 8pm when the cyclists will – hopefully – arrive at the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, Sutton Bonington Campus.
An Onswitch spokesman said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank the universities involved for the welcome parties they have organised. The cyclists will very much appreciate the tea and coffee, pizzas and bacon butties that will be provided along the way.”
Canine Partners provides specially trained dogs for the disabled, helping owners enjoy greater independence and a better quality of life.
The spokesman said: “It’s a very worthy cause so not only do Team Onswitch and friends hope to raise £3,000, we also hope to raise awareness of this brilliant charity and it’s wonderful volunteers.”
