Jim Morris of Haven Veterinary Group in Hull, east Yorkshire, to take on British Heart Foundation’s off-road London to Paris challenge.
The owner of a veterinary practice in the north of England is taking to his bike to raise money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Jim Morris, practice owner and principal veterinary surgeon of mixed practice Haven Veterinary Group in Hull, east Yorkshire, is taking part in the gruelling off-road version of the classic London to Paris cycle route and will begin his 190-mile challenge on June 29 (2013).
Mr Morris, who is riding with friends Lee Brocklebank and Steve Maplebeck during the challenge, said: “I was looking for an event that would motivate me to maintain my cycling fitness through the winter and I saw the BHF organises the only charity off-road ride of this type.
“It looks a great route and is for a very worthy cause that is very close to home as I have had close family and friends lost to, and affected by, heart disease.”
Mr Morris leaves London on June 29 for the three-day ride, which takes in the South Downs, Forges les Eaux and Lyons la Forêt in Normandy before the finish at the Palace of Versailles. He is hoping to raise £1,000 to benefit BHF’s research and said he would be “very grateful for any support people may be able to give”.
