Corporate veterinary group CVS UK Ltd has announced the appointment of two specialists to its referral practices.
In the first appointment, Luca Ferasin DVM PhD CertVC PGCert(HE) DipECVIM-CA (Cardiology) GPCert(B&PS) MRCVS, European and RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology will join multi-disciplinary referral practice Wey Referrals in March 2014.
Luca graduated from the University of Bologna in 1992 and was later awarded his PhD from the University of Cambridge. Following three years as assistant professor at the University of Padova, he moved to the University of Bristol, where he taught cardio-respiratory medicine of the dog and cat for seven years. He then spent two years as associate professor in veterinary cardiology at the University of Minnesota before moving back to the UK where he started his own cardiology consultancy company in 2008.
In the second appointment, Jess Gower MA VetMB CertSAS DipECVS MRCVS, European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery, joins the St David’s Veterinary Group, a three site practice in Devon, also in March.
Jess graduated from Cambridge University in 1992. She joined the Blue Cross Animal Hospital in London in 1992, where she achieved the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 1996 and was made chief veterinary surgeon in 1998. She became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and a European specialist in small animal surgery in 2010. She is an active member of the British Veterinary Orthopaedics Association and the Association of Veterinary Soft Tissue Surgeons.
