Vet charity PDSA has recognised its best performing shops across the UK.
Staff and volunteers at the shops received a certificate from PDSA’s director general, Jan McLoughlin, to congratulate them on their work. Overall winner Eastbourne also received a commemorative shield for its all-round performance.
The winning shops beat off competition from more than 160 of PDSA’s other shops across the country.
Ms McLoughlin said: “It’s a fabulous achievement to be crowned a top shop. PDSA is immensely proud of what the staff and volunteers in Eastbourne, Bramley and Penarth are achieving. The teams have shown great skill and commitment to raising much-needed funds to help PDSA’s vets and nurses deliver our vital veterinary care.”
PDSA shops raise funds to help the charity provide free veterinary treatment for the pets of people in need through a nationwide network of 51 PDSA pet hospitals. Last year, PDSA provided 2.7 million treatments to pets, ranging from life-saving operations to preventive care.
Eastbourne PDSA shop manager, Wendy Modestou, said: “We are all thrilled to receive this award and to be named overall winner. We have an incredible team of volunteers who donate their free time to PDSA. We’re also really lucky to have the support of local people who not only come and buy, but also donate items to the store.”
