Nurses are being urged to support a roadshow to raise awareness and funds for a UK-based charity that works to improve the welfare of dogs in Afghanistan.

BVNA’s regional coordinators (RCOs) have organised a roadshow in support of the association’s 2014 chosen charity Nowzad, and are calling on local VNs to get involved.

The evenings will feature talks from ex-Royal Marine and Nowzad founder Sergeant “Pen” Farthing, as well as raffles and manufacturer stands.

Calling for support for her event, roadshow organiser and BVNA past-president Donna Lewis told Vetsonline: “After reading all about what Nowzad is and reading Pen’s book One Dog at a Time, I would really like to show some real support for this charity – I would like to pack my venue to the rafters to help this wonderful charity.”

She added: “I am asking for £1 door money, which will go directly to Nowzad. I will have raffles and fundraisers on the night; I will also invite some drug reps so the delegates can do a bit of freebie shopping and, of course, networking.”
