Online learning and CPD for veterinary professionals has received a boost thanks to a new look for the Dechra Academy.

The well-used resource has been refreshed along with the rest of the Dechra web presence at and offers more than 40 hours of free content and the ability to order support materials or download them directly from the site.

The academy was launched in 2010 in response to the industry’s thirst for ongoing professional development and Dechra’s commitment to supporting vets and vet nurses. It now has 18,500 registered users.

Membership is free and users can complete the modules in their own time, on and offline, achieving recognised CPD credits and can download certificates recording their achievements.

Access to non-academy content on other parts of the Dechra Veterinary Products website has also been simplified in the relaunched portal, making it possible for users to obtain support material for Dechra products and expert advice across a range of conditions relating to companion animal, food-producing animal and equine specialisms.

Larry King, Dechra marketing manager, said: “We have built up a tremendous amount of high quality content which has served thousands of our users very well in the last four years.

“In the process of renewing and refreshing the service, we put a priority on taking steps to make that information even more accessible through downloads and the ability to order hard copies, so people can benefit from it without being in front of the computer screen.”

CPD sessions available include Canine Hyperadrenocorticism, Feline Hyperthyroidism and Fluid Knowledge Programmes for small animal and equine, while courses are supported by video presentations led by recognised experts.

Already 665 course completion certificates have been issued by the academy since the relaunch.

The new website supports the veterinary sector generally with a range of materials for both vets and animal owners, which are available to anyone who registers for free on the site, including instructional videos, white papers, dosage calculators and handouts for clients.
