Comedian and television presenter Alexander Armstrong will be taking a break from his day job to host the 2015 Petplan Veterinary Awards.
Contrary to his television role in the BBC One sitcom Beast, Mr Armstrong is a passionate animal lover too and in 2013 made the decision to move out of London to live on a farm with his wife and family, where he regularly experiences the dedicated care of local veterinary staff.
Petplan’s head of marketing Ingrid Wakefield said: “We are thrilled to have Alexander on board to reward the crème de la crème of British veterinary professionals. These awards are focused on acknowledging the best in the industry and it’s wonderful to have a compère who will uphold that sense of occasion. We’re sure Alexander will be a true asset to the awards, adding his own sprinkling of comedy to proceedings.”
Nominations for Vet of the Year, Vet Nurse of the Year, Practice of the Year, Practice Support Staff of the Year and Practice Manager of the Year closed on January 16. Winners will be announced on April 9, 2015 in a ceremony at Birmingham Town Hall.
