“This one day course is designed for nurses who want to further develop their diagnostic imaging skills. We will refresh some of the fundamentals of obtaining a diagnostic image, then continue to how we perform the more advanced imaging techniques and what disorders they can be used to diagnose. The course will cover mostly radiography (including contrast studies), ultrasonography and endoscopy, although a mention of advanced imaging modalities (CT and MRI) will also be made.
Specific areas to be covered.
• Radiography and contrast studies of the urogenital, gastrointestinal and cardiorespiratory systems
• Ultrasonography of the thorax and abdomen
• Endoscopy of the gastrointestinal tract, airways and nose (including care of endoscopy equipment and anaesthesia of these patients)
• How advanced imaging can be useful in practice and the basics of how they work”
