About this course
After a brief overview of the UK industry, the approach to the alpaca is explored, including handling and restraint, and special behavioural, anatomical and physiological features.
Routine herd health care and procedures like sedation, blood sampling, castration, foot care, drug administration and fluid therapy are covered. Common medical presentations, including anaemia, weight-loss or ill-thrift and dental and skin disease are explored with the aid of case studies. An introduction to reproductive features and disorders is also provided.
