Practical Otitis Workshop: Alleviating the Irritation of Recurrent Otitis
This workshop focuses on the approach to investigation and management of recurrent otitis. It includes a series of lectures covering the normal anatomy and physiology of the external and middle ears, the pathophysiology of otitis and the investigation and management of chronic, recurrent otitis externa and media. Considerations in the decision making process for medical versus surgical management of otitis will also be covered.
Practical aspects of the course include instructed sessions on otic lavage, using both hand-held and video-otoscopes and, on microscopic evaluation of otic samples. Finally, there will be a group session on the selection of safe topical therapy for the management of otitis media.
