Obesity, Nutrition and Weight Management Clinics
The nutrition of hospitalised patients is especially important in the overall health of the patient. Correct calorific requirements are needed in order to aid recovery and to meet the daily energy requirements. The manipulation of nutrients within a diet can be used to contribute towards the improvement of some diseases or disorders. This day will cover how diet can aid in several medical conditions including: FLUTD, pancreatitis, diabetes, vomiting and diarrhoea, renal disease, hepatic disease, cancer, bladder stones, hyperthyroidism, and Addison’s disease. We will also be looking at obesity and especially difficult obesity cases, including those with concurrent disease.

Nutrition for in-patients including calculation of energy requirements
Understand the role of nutrition in medical conditions eg diabetes, pancreatitis
Discussion of obesity and how to deal with challenging cases
Weight loss diets for patients with concurrent diseases
