Nutrition has a vital part to play in the successful management of our hospitalised patients.

In this half day course, we will discuss the different types of starvation experienced by our patients. You will learn how to perform a nutritional assessment and how to calculate your patient’s energy requirements.

We will discuss the importance of peri-operative feeding to ensure patients are nutritionally stable prior to anaesthesia and are starved appropriately for procedures.

Additionally, we will discuss post-operative feeding for patients who have undergone elective procedures through to patients that will be hospitalised for a period of time and may require tube feeding.
