Nursing the Respiratory Patient – Half Day Course
Topcliffe Close, Capitol Park, Tingley,
About this course
The veterinary nurse’s involvement with respiratory patients is vital; anything that negatively affects an animal’s breathing should always be treated as a priority.
Respiratory disease, whatever the cause, is a common cause of morbidity in small animal patients and in extreme cases can lead to patient death. Appropriate management of the acute respiratory patient is critical in improving survival chances. This course encompasses all that you need to know in order to achieve a positive outcome in these interesting, and often challenging, cases.
You will take a look at the most effective nursing care of respiratory patients, examination and stabilisation of the dyspnoeic patient, oxygen supplementation techniques, intubation, tracheostomy, thoracentesis, thoracostomy tubes and CPR.
Case studies will be used to look at specific cases in a more interactive manner.
