Vetergesic is an injectable analgesic preparation used in pain control during operations on animals including horses, dogs and cats.

Alstoe took over the marketing of Vetergesic in the UK in 2001 and has grown the business significantly since forming the partnership with Reckitt Benckiser. Up to now, it has marketed the product in the UK and some other countries under a license and distribution agreement.

Alstoe director John Nellis said: “This purchase from Reckitt puts us in another league. Vetergesic is a significant addition to our product range, complementing the international brands within the Alstoe portfolio.”

Mr Hunt commented: “It’s fantastic to see a Yorkshire business putting itself on the map with the acquisition of one of the UK’s best known veterinary pharmaceuticals. This strategic deal cements its reputation as one of the leading firms in the industry.”
