Royal Canin is hosting a webinar that will guide pet health counsellors in how to run effective 30-minute obesity consultations.
The hour-long webinar will feature Shelley Holden VN (from the University of Liverpool’s Weight Management Clinic) alongside Royal Canin’s practice support manager Clare Hemmings VN.
Mrs Holden will discuss the preparations that need to be made by the VN in advance of the consult, before outlining a simple four-stage process for nurse clinics to follow.
Miss Hemmings will continue with a discussion Royal Canin’s nutritional solutions and the support available for delivering top quality weight management clinics.
“This is the first in a series of obesity webinars we will be hosting throughout 2014 and this one is aimed specifically at the 1,500 Royal Canin Pet Health Counsellors (PHC) working in surgeries across the UK,” she said.
“The main point we want PHCs to take away from this webinar is the need to prepare for obesity consults and tailor advice to each individual animal and owner.
“Each case is different, whether it’s the pet’s feeding behaviour, their metabolism or their owner’s willingness to comply with veterinary advice.”
The webinars start at 8.30pm on February 25 (2014). CPD certificates will be made available online to those who attend the event.
Any PHC interested in attending can register for the free webinar by visiting Royal Canin’s website.
