The VMD is seeking views on theproposed changes to the new Veterinary Medicines Regulations, dueto come into force on October 1, 2009.
The regulations represent, as far as possible, all legislative provisions in respect of veterinary medicines in a single piece of legislation. They are revoked and remade each year, which means that those being consulted on will replace the current 2008 regulations.
According to the VMD, this constant evolution provides the opportunity to review and amend any of the provisions that need to be changed (including any necessary amendments regarding fees) and avoids the accumulation of a raft of separate amending legislation.
A list of key changes is included in the consultation document and each one is discussed in more detail within the Impact Assessment. Consultation documents also include a summary of changes to fees, a list of the proposed minor drafting and Guidance Note amendments.
In addition to these amendments, three new Guidance Notes have been produced, covering Guidance for Manufacturers, Registration and Inspection of Veterinary Practice Premises and Controlled Drugs.
The full consultation package is available on the VMD’s website . Alternatively, for a CD-ROM version or e-mail copy of the package, call Lorna Shelly on 01932 338320 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org .
