Members of the veterinary professions are being invited to attend RCVS Day 2015 – the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons’ (RCVS) annual general meeting and awards day.
One Great George Street conference centre by night.
The event will be held at One Great George Street in Westminster from 10am to 12:45pm on July 10, followed by a drinks reception and lunch.
Prof Stuart Reid will chair the AGM and welcome new members to RCVS and VN councils in his last official engagement as president, before handing over to Bradley Viner, who will be invested as president for 2015-16.
The AGM will see council members asked to approve the college’s annual report and financial statements for 2014 before the presentation of awards, which recognise and celebrate those who have contributed towards the profession. Awards bestowed on the day are:
- the Queen’s Medal
- honorary associateships
- honorary fellowships
- the VN Golden Jubilee Award
- RCVS fellowships and diplomas
Finally, following speeches by RCVS CEO Nick Stace
and both outgoing and incoming presidents, the platform will be handed over to guest speaker Will Hueston
, a professor at the University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine and School of Public Health.
Professor Hueston – an expert in the field of public health and food safety – will be addressing the topic of professional leadership in veterinary medicine, science and policy.
