Vétoquinol UK was one of the major sponsors of the European Society for Veterinary Dermatology’s Meeting on Otitis, held at St Helens Museum of Glass in February.

Thirty-one delegates attended from Greece, Holland, Germany and the UK to hear the expert speakers Craig Griffin, Sue Patterson, Ulrike Michal and Virginie De Busscher.

The first day included topics such as: anatomy of the ear, neurological evaluation of the ear patient, diagnostic imaging of the year, diseases of the ear pinna and causes of Otitis Externa. The second day of lectures covered ear cleaning, Malessezia Otitis, gram positive infection, Allergic Otitis and Otitis media.

The third day was split between a wet lab video-otoscopy at Abbotsfield Referral Centre in St Helens and lectures on ear surgery.

Delegate Isabelle Remy echoed the comments of many attendees, when she said: “It was one of the best ESVD workshops I have done, an excellent scientific programme, friendly people and a great social programme.”

Speaker Sue Patterson said: “We are very grateful to Vétoquinol for sponsoring this important meeting. It was an excellent opportunity for vets to get a greater insight into the causes and treatments for Otitis.”

Vétoquinol’s Mark Leddy said: “As we provide one of the more powerful Otitis Externa treatments we are always keen to support high quality CPD such as this course. The correct use of products is a significant issue and high level education such as this will help further knowledge and understanding of ear disease.”

Vétoquinol UK manufactures Aurizon, which it claims is the only topical treatment for Otitis Externa that combines the convenience of once-a-day dosage with high clinical cure rates, fast pain relief and the concentration dependent power of marbofloxacin.
