Vétoquinol has announced the launch of a new practice support tool to help optimise the management of canine osteoarthritis in practice.
The Managing Pain in Canine Osteoarthritis booklet is the result of eight months’ work between Vétoquinol and a panel of veterinary surgeons with considerable expertise in this area; the aim of which was to establish consensus guidelines for managing canine OA in first opinion practice.
, product manager for Vétoquinol’s Cimalgex and Flexadin ranges of joint health support supplements, said: “
OA is a complex, multifaceted disease which most first opinion vets will encounter daily and we wanted to produce guidelines that will be of practical use to veterinary surgeons
This booklet is a must-have for the practice as it is a great reference tool for answering many questions you have in this area and as a resource for building robust practice protocols.”
Among other things, the booklet covers:
- how to choose the right NSAID for the individual dog
- advice on monitoring OA progression
- what to do if there are side effects
- the use of NSAIDs alongside other medications
- tips on improving compliance and pet owner satisfaction
Mr Simpson added: “This booklet could not have been produced without the panel and we are all extremely grateful for their time and effort.”
