The Avenues Veterinary Centre is raising funds for Guide Dogs by embarking on the Coniston team challenge.

The team of eight from the Glasgow veterinary surgery will hike 10km up and over the summit of old man Coniston, mountain bike 12km through Grizedale forest and kayak 3km across Coniston Water on September 13.

The team was inspired to raise funds based on the first hand experience they’ve had working with guide dogs and witnessing the impact they have on their owners’ lives.

Nicola Armstrong, practice principal said: ” It is a privilege to assist and help support these invaluable dogs.”

“Guide Dogs receives no government funding and relies entirely on the generosity of its supporters funding training and health care throughout these dogs’ lives.

“Guide dogs make a huge difference to the day to day living of their handlers, not only are they providing help and assistance but also companionship“.
