A vet hoping to raise more than £1,000 for charity is preparing for her biggest challenge yet – The London Marathon.
RVC graduate Daniella Dos Santos, who works in small animal and exotic practice in Kent, is undertaking the gruelling 26-mile course to raise funds for the Huntington’s Disease Association.
Speaking about her reasons for fundraising, Miss Dos Santos said: ‘‘This is a cause close to my heart, as one of my friends has tested positive for the disease which affects other members of her family too. Huntington’s Disease is a progressive neurological condition for which there is no cure, and it devastates entire generations of the same family.’’
Taking part in the London Marathon is the last obstacle Miss Dos Santos has to tackle as part of the challenge. She has already completed the Hampton Court and Hastings Half Marathons and is more than half-way to achieving her fundraising goal.
Miss Dos Santos said: ”I am not at all sporty, so this has been a huge challenge for me. I would like to help raise awareness of Huntington’s Disease.’’
