Veterinary nurses in Manchester have been making the most of National Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month with events and activities.

A team of VNs from Ashleigh Veterinary Centre microchipped and nail-clipped 45 rabbits and guinea pigs free of charge with the RSPCA Manchester and Salford branch for both Rabbit Awareness Week and the awareness month.

They gave owners advice and answered queries. The RSPCA also sold a variety of enrichment toys and hay. All the money raised went to the RSPCA branch.

The team handed out veterinary nurse role word searches and colour sheets for children and have set up a VN display board detailing just some of things VNs do.

Tonight (Thursday, May 22) RVN Cheryl Howard is giving a presentation to animal college students at Eccles Sixth Form College about a career in veterinary nursing and animal care.

She will be talking about the job role, job satisfaction, qualification routes and progression opportunities.

Cheryl and her VN colleagues are also having a veterinary nurse stand at Eccles College pet day on June 7, when they will be offering nurse health checks, discounted microchipping and goodie bags.
