A jubilee torch relay between the 44 branches and hospitals of the Goddard Veterinary Group around London has raised more than £4,000 to be split between Cats Protection and Dogs’ Trust.

The team at Goddard Veterinary Group showcase the money raised for Cats Protection and Dogs' TrustThe event, to mark the practice’s diamond jubilee this year, was the brainchild of a member of staff.

Veterinary and support staff covered a total distance of 160 miles to complete the relay. Some ran; some cycled; some roller-skated; some took their dogs – and even donkeys were involved in one of the stages.

Philip Goddard, who runs Goddard Veterinary Group, said of the relay: “Our staff really got behind the idea and we’re delighted to have raised such of a lot of money for these two vital charities.”

Emma Rowe, Cats Protection’s regional fundraiser for the south and east, said: “We are extremely grateful to The Goddard Veterinary Group for this generous donation.

“The amount raised is fantastic so we’d like to say a huge thank you to the kind-hearted staff who gave up their time to get involved. The money will help bring about a brighter future for the thousands of unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens in our care.”

The Goddard Veterinary Group runs three veterinary hospitals in London serving a network of 41 branches, all of which are within the M25.
