Organisers of the first industry-led fundraising challenge specifically for vets and vet charities have announced details of its second annual event.
The 2013 Vet Charity Challenge will take place on September 28 at at Warwickshire College, Pershore in Worcestershire and will see teams of four take on running, cycling and kayaking trials, along with some mental puzzles and orienteering tasks.
Competitors in last year’s challenge managed to raise £21,000 for SPANA, Pet Blood Bank and Hounds for Heroes.
Jason Rogers, from event sponsors BCF Technology, urged practices to take up the challenge this year.
He said: “This is a great incentive to improve your fitness over the year and improve teamwork within your practice.”
The winning 2012 team was “The Complete Animal” from Hyde Park Veterinary Centre in London.
Speaking after their win, team captain Leah Morley said: “The event was great fun, and all the teams seemed to have got right behind it. You really had to work as a team, playing to different peoples strengths both physically and mentally.”
She added: “I think every practice should take part – and we look forward to returning next year to defend our title.”
