The BUAV has welcomed the launch of the first range of canine grooming products that are certified under the internationally renowned animal-testing free “leaping bunny” programme.
The British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) has welcomed the launch, by Dogs Trust, of the first range of canine grooming products that are certified under the internationally renowned animal-testing free Leaping Bunny programme.
The new range includes shampoos, conditioner, spritzes and puppy products, as well as balms to condition paws and snouts.
Dogs Trust’s grooming range is produced by Italian producers Originitalia and is certified under the international humane standards, which are managed by the BUAV in the UK.
Certified cruelty-free companies are recognisable to shoppers by the Leaping Bunny logo.
Dogs Trust’s grooming products will appear on GoCrueltyFree.org, which lists around 400 companies to have been certified under the BUAV’s Humane Standards.
BUAV chief executive Michelle Thew said: “We are delighted that Dogs Trust sought to ensure its new canine grooming range is free from animal testing. Now both humans and their canine companions can enjoy pampering with products that have not been cruelly tested on animals.”
Dogs Trust chief executive Clarissa Baldwin explained: “When we first considered a bespoke Dogs Trust grooming range ensuring the ingredients were not tested on animals was a priority.
“Many owners use their own shampoos and conditioners on their dogs which can lead to discomfort or allergic reactions for their four-legged friends so we wanted to ensure there was a range designed just for them. Made using naturally derived ingredients and pH adjusted for dogs skin the range caters for all shapes and sizes.”
