Dorwest Herbs is celebrating the third year of its “Fireworks Phobia – No Fear” campaign, following great success during previous years with hundredsof practices taking part.
According to canine behaviourists, up to 1.6 million dogs suffer from noise phobias so severe that they need professional help. Dorwest’s free “Firework Phobia – No Fear” support pack helps practices raise the profile of this distressing condition and includes leaflets which describe behavioural techniques, coping strategies and a variety of treatments.
There are some new additions to keep the support pack lively and relevant with sparkling LED (blinky) badges that are sure to get staff noticed and a shelf wobbler that will create a talking point in the waiting room. There are also some new look graphics, making all the materials brighter, with greater impact.
The campaign has become an annual event for many practices and Dorwest will also be heightening awareness that vets can treat firework fear and phobia, driving clients new and old to the practice.
Dorwest quality director Mary Boughton, the UK’s leading expert in the formulation of veterinary herbal medicines, said: “Fireworks are increasingly used at parties, events and other winter celebrations. Many vets have also found both Scullcap and Valerian Tablets and Valerian compound useful in treating travel related anxiety, gun-shy working dogs, during socialisation and training and even in calming nervous pets before visits to the practice. Licensed Scullcap and Valerian Tablets and Valerian Compound will not cause the pet to appear tranquilised or disorientated and can be used alongside conventional treatments or alone.”
With 1.5 million doses sold last year and continued steady growth throughout 2009, the demand for Scullcap and Valerian Tablets is anticipated to be bigger than ever during October and November. Many of Dorwest’s herbs are harvested from certified plants in the UK, so stocks can be put under pressure and practices are being advised to stock up early.
After receiving some dazzling entries last year, Dorwest are once more running a competition for the best waiting room display and this year the prizes are a bottle of Champagne, £50 of Boots vouchers and £50 of free stock.
