Staff at a Southampton practice are celebrating after an appeal publicised through vettimes.co.uk, Veterinary Times and VN Times was a runaway success.

Trocoxil 20mgChristopher Carter Veterinary Surgery contacted the offices of publishers Veterinary Business Development saying it urgently required Trocoxil 20mg or 30mg to treat a dog with immune-mediated polyarthropathy.

‘Getting desperate’

The dog, said vet Chris Carter, was intolerant to all other NSAIDs, meaning the practice was “getting desperate” for the medication. He asked veterinary colleagues if they had any in their pharmacies going spare.

Following tweets on @VN_Times, a web story and resulting social media on the vet times Facebook page – as well as a news item in Veterinary Times – the practice has said it has had “the most fantastic response”.

Thank you

“We cannot thank you enough,” said the practice. “We have some already at the surgery and another lot being posted so we can treat Mango for another four months.

“I possibly have another source to follow up on and a lovely referral vet telephoned us to give advice on possible other treatments for the dog.

“The power of media and the internet is truly amazing, so, again, thank you to everyone involved.”
