Animal nutrition company Dodson and Horrell (D&H) has appointed an equine nutritionist, as well as a new director.

Anna and Derek.

Anna Pyrah, a graduate of the University of Lincoln, worked as an equine nutritionist at another well-known feed company for five years, before moving to D&H for the same role.

According to D&H, Miss Pyrah’s experience spans a variety of different areas, from developing nutritional formulations, and writing articles, to giving presentations to colleges and providing support for four-star event riders.

Higher up, Derek Mackey has joined the board of directors as commercial director. Having joined the company in May 2014 as head of sales, Mr Mackey previously enjoyed a long career in the drinks business.

According to D&H, Mr Mackey brings a “fresh outlook” on the commercial direction of the business and the categories it works within.

“Our approach is centred around nutritional needs and brand positioning within the respective categories,” said Mr Mackey. “We have a clear direction on which categories we will focus on, and the sub-segments we will major on.

“Our aim is to drive category value while ensuring our positioning is true to D&H’s heritage and brand values. I am honoured to be placed in a leadership role and I look forward to all that we will accomplish in the months ahead.”
