Memories were shared and future directions considered at the RCVS’s “Looking back, stepping forward” seminar, held at Belgravia House on June 23 to mark the Golden Jubilee of veterinary nursing.

VN cakeThe event was attended by a mix of pioneers of the veterinary nursing profession, those who trained them, and those involved with taking the profession forward through education, practice and politics.

A broad range of speakers delivered a variety of interesting and thought-provoking presentations that covered the history of the VN profession from its earliest days to the present, and looked to how the profession might grow and develop in the years ahead.

A full report and photos from the day are now available, and all the presentations may be downloaded.

Delegates were also invited to record their thoughts of the profession’s Jubilee year in a guestbook – an invitation enthusiastically accepted by Lisa Mulcock RVN of the Lynwood School of Veterinary Nursing.

She wrote: “Veterinary nursing has come so far in the last 50 years! I hope we continue with the passion we have to move the profession forward – a profession which has given me a fantastic career that I am very proud to be part of.”

A selection of other delegates’ comments are also available to read.
