Innovative new partnership with Buckingham Equine Vets aims to advance the standard of veterinary education and care of injured and rehabilitating horses, ponies and donkeys.
The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) has announced a collaboration with Buckingham Equine Vets (BEV) to advance the standard of veterinary education and care of injured and rehabilitating horses, ponies and donkeys.
Coinciding with the opening of BEV’s new purpose-built equine clinic near Milton Keynes, the collaboration will allow the vets of the future, vet nurses and qualified vets to develop their clinical skills at a modern veterinary practice.
At the same time it will offer clients of the Buckingham-based practice diagnostic and treatment services, combined with support from world-leading experts in the equine veterinary field at the RVC.
The partnership was formally launched with the opening of the new clinic by RVC principal Stuart Reid on May 9, 2013.
Speaking at the launch, Prof Reid said: “I am delighted to be officially opening these fantastic new clinical facilities and announcing this innovative new partnership. The combined experience and expertise of the RVC and BEV will undoubtedly result in better learning opportunities for our students and an even higher quality of care for patients.”
Josh Slater, head of the equine medicine and surgery group at the RVC, said: “We are proud to be working in partnership with BEV to extend the educational experience of our students in the excellent facilities at BEV.
“We are excited to be sharing our clinical expertise and facilities with this dynamic, young practice. We see tremendous opportunities and mutual benefits in this partnership and believe it is a model for the future.”
BEV director Andrew Wallace said: “To enter into this exciting agreement with the RVC is a major development for our veterinary practice and we are honoured to join in partnership with one of the world’s most renowned veterinary institutions.
“It will enable us to advance further the equine care we provide to our fantastic clients.”
